However, it should be noted that the northern part of the state is covered by pine, while the southern part of the state is largely comprised of desert. Arizona is the 48th state to be admitted to the Union, and it is bordered by Nevada, New Mexico, and California. The current population of Arizona is 5.1 million, and the largest city is Phoenix. Software companies are very popular in Arizona, followed by aerospace, electronics, and telecommunications. Architecture is also quite prominent.
