The companies that wish to invest in Maine will bring benefits to both themselves and the citizens that live there. The goal of the Pine Tree Zone was to improve areas of the state that the state government designated as being distressed. Four regions have been chosen, and the goal is to facilitate an application process.Each region will be comprised of approximately 5, 000 acres, and it can be split into a number of different parcels. The towns that wish to participate in this project must be given a permit. The businesses that are sought after the most for this project are those that deal with finance, manufacturing, or technology. There are a number of qualifications that businesses must meet before they can do business in this state. The companies that wish to operate in a PTZ area must demonstrate that they cannot operate in the state unless they have access to this region.
