A student who is attending secondary school at Year 8 must be a minimum of 12 years of age, and the highest age range is 13. The years range from Year 7 to Year 11, and the maximum age for students who are attending secondary school at Year 11 is 16. Once they have completed this period, this is considered to be the end of their compulsory academic time. The cut off for the age ranges is in the month of August.Students are expected to have reached the proper age for their year by the end of August.
